Chemical engineering is a study program that studies the processing of raw materials into value-added products, both finished and semi-finished products by applying the principles of chemistry, physics, and biology by taking into account safety, environmental and economic factors.

The Chemical Engineering Study Program (PSTK) ITK itself was officially established in 2015 according to the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education No. 65/M/Kp/III/2015. together with the first 4 (four) other ITK study programs. It's just that PSTK has accepted its first student in 2012 where all lecture activities are carried out at the ITS Chemical Engineering Department, the campus appointed by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education as the Executor of the establishment of ITK. The establishment of ITK and PSTK is expected to be able to answer the challenges of developing human resources in Eastern Indonesia in particular so that they can actively contribute to regional development and development, especially in Kalimantan.
