The Community Service carried out by Chemical Engineering Students at the Kalimantan Institute of Technology is a series of CHLORINE 2019 (Chemical Engineering In Extraordinary Event) events which are on the agenda once a year and for the first time held by the Chemical Engineering study program. This series of events was held on February 7, 2020 at the Kalimantan Institute of Technology by presenting a competent speaker, Dr. eng. Lusi Ernawati, S.T., M.Sc. as a Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at the Kalimantan Institute of Technology. Carrying the theme "Solutions for Handling Household Waste and Making Brownies, Yoghurt and Chocolate using Tempe as Basic Ingredients", this community service was attended by about 200 women.

“I get experience in socializing with the wider community and can share knowledge with students so that I can improve skills in innovating tempe processed food products. The purpose of this service is to empower the community in product development, train the entrepreneurial spirit, and earn additional income. In addition, this program is also intended to provide socialization on how to make tempe chocolate. It is hoped that based on this information, women can develop a wider range of tempe chocolate production businesses, not only in the local area. But it could be to other areas to the sub-district level in general. The tempe chocolate product can be recognized by the Indonesian people," said Dr. eng. Lusi Ernawati, S.T., M.Sc. as a Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at the Kalimantan Institute of Technology

Maulida as the head of the community service event said that this community service was very important for women in the Kalimantan Institute of Technology.

"This community service is very important because there are many complaints that the water in the housing around the ITK environment is not clear, then this community service discusses water purification without using chemicals so mothers don't need to be afraid of the dangers," said Maulida.

This Community Service does not only discuss household waste water purification and diversification of tempe-based food, but there are free health checks, door prizes for people who come to the Kalimantan Institute of Technology.

“For me, this activity can increase a sense of responsibility, help each other, group cooperation, respect each other, and practice communication between each other. In addition, this activity can be used as a field of experience and learning that can foster a sense of care, sensitivity, and responsiveness to all situations and conditions. I hope that this community service activity can be useful for the community as well as students to build awareness to others and to know the various benefits that we will get if we contribute to the wider community. Building social activities is a noble activity, we can realize concern for others, especially for people who really need help," added Mrs. Lusi Ernawati
